Ancient genomes from a Roca Vecchia, Apulia, shed light on Minoan modes of colonisation

If you consider trans-Adriatic admixture event bringing high steppe ancestry to South-Eastern Italy, the sample Albania_Cinamak_EBA.AG (Proto-Illyrian) is a fine candidate to serve as a proxy.

For a two way admixture event using this sample to create a profile similar to yourself this would appear reasonable, but I would presume the historic reality is that it's more likely that the Roca-Vecchia_MBA profile was progressively diluted by Iron age and Classical era Greek newcomers in tandem with progressive and temporally differentiated arrivals of Italic ancestry from central and/or northern Italy.

Here's another model, it is similar to the EBA Albanian sample.

Conclusions

In conclusion, we show that the genetic composition of ROC006 (US2616 C), an adolescent male aged 16-17 years, is too divergent from the ones displayed by available Greek samples from a comparable period, pointing to a local rather than Aegean origin for this individual, who can be safely described as a pre-Daunian, with a slightly higher fraction of CHG/Iran_N ancestry.

@Salento Thank you for your contributions to setting them up, we were able to produce a PCA of the findings before the study was published.
