I did a recent test at 23andMe and they stated I am I-Z58. I ran the data file at the Morley predictor and they returned, I1a2b1~1 (I-Z58). I just did a 37 marker test at FTDNA and of course they put me in the I-M253 catagory, so I'm about to upgrade with that snip pack.

I agree. I read somewhere that there was a "bottleneck" with the spread of U5 in Europe, I think due to a large expansion of other haplogroups into Europe during a specific period. I'll have to try to find that text. Still, for there seemingly being such low percentages of U5b1b1 in larger...

Thanks, I will bear that in mind. Incidently, looking through my files I note I had already done a Morley predictor test with my 'Living DNA' YDNA file and the prediction was a little different to the 23andme one, I1a2a2~1 / I1-L41. Thank you very much for the reply!

I appreciate the information. The BigY-700 is too expensive for me at present. I will start with the Y-111, then purchase upgrade(s), eventually to the BigY. I am very interested in the deep history of my paternal line. FTDNA have my sample from my mtDNA test and soon I will ask them to proceed...

I did a bit of research and discovered I-Z58 is a subclade of I1a, and I1-Z58 is how it is referenced.
