    what about the connection with Sardinian "jana"? it has also a masculine form which means "little man" or "dwarf". Also, is it possible that "zana" could be a compund word? "z" (maybe it can be some sort of feminine prefix) + "ana" (which can relate to "jana" and νᾶνος)
