    Since I have no idea who my father was and no access to any brother's DNA, I understand what you are saying. It does seem that more YDna is reported. I can't find much about my r1a mtDNA

    I'm r1a and my theory is: neolithic variation of R, in the Caucasus, archaeological evidence in Catacomb culture, no idea how it got to Britain, but I can trace back my maternal line to 1715 in Lancashire.

    mtDNA R1A in Colinial Virginia. How?

    I realize this is an old thread, but if anyone is still following, I'd like to say that my mtdna is r1a and my family came from Lancashire UK in 1874. I can trace the maternal line to 1713, so it seems likely that your colonial Virginia ancestors might have been from Britain.
