All populations are a mix. the population we came from was a mix of different people and the population of that population before that etc etc. Not sure about race but I read we migrated out of Africa later than thought and split into different routes and races later than thought.
Not an expert in this but at this point I doubt it was a Proto-Illyrian. Most likely came to Europe during the Neolithic or Bronze Age from the near east. Indo European languages in the Balkans were spread by people rich in R1b most likely. But anything is possible.
A lot of linguistic and cultural research support it to be Illyrian, somewhere north of the Jireck line in West / Central Balkans. There have been made some strong arguments against Thracian/Dacian origin by several historians. Albanian language does not match Thracian
